Over the last two years I have used physical and emotional processes when working with the human figure whether it was a full body in an environment or through portraiture. I used line, shape, and color to deconstruct people through a combination of mediums. I am always searching for a home in the faces and figures I paint. So, for my thesis instead of breaking down my figures emotionally, and even spiritually I decided to only break them down physically. Since I address the figure as my social muse I’m using my paintings to represent people of color through an explosion of color and design. The portraits are meant to empower, bring the viewer in, and show beauty that radiates from within.
